Chickens are free to eat. In other words, they eat as much as they need as often as they need it. Drinking and feeding devices are located in the halls above a moisture-absorbing litter or on grid level. There is sufficient space for all of the chickens to eat and drink simultaneously.
Chickens are fed with appropriate ratios of wholegrain and industrially manufactured feed – a proportion that is planned to safeguard the health of the chickens. The industrial feed is manufactured from Finnish grain and supplemented with protein, mineral, micronutrient and vitamin components. Wholegrain feed is added on the farm, and this comes from the farm itself or from farmers in the surrounding area.
