Special attention is paid to the quality of the raw materials used in the products.  The quality, safety and purity of the raw materials, as well as their suitability for production, are always ensured in the product development stage and before use in production. Atria has systematically eliminated allergens from its raw materials and thus further strived to increase product safety and offer an ever-widening range to those who follow a special diet.

In Atria products, the origin of the meat is always Finnish. All pork, beef and poultry sold under the Atria brand are produced on Finnish farms. Atria's purchasing organization is responsible for all other procurement of raw materials needed to manufacture the product, such as vegetables, spices and packaging materials. Atria only accepts approved suppliers after its own approval process. Suppliers 'product safety, quality and environmental management are regularly assessed and suppliers' operations are audited according to plan.

Atria does not use irradiated or genetically modified raw materials.

The need for additives is assessed in terms of consumer health and product safety. Only important additives necessary for product safety are used – and only if they all have a proven safety record.

Additives are listed under their group names on packaging. This indicates the purpose of the additive in the product. The name or E number of the additive is also listed. E numbers mean that the substance has been approved for use in the European Union.

The statutory restrictions concerning the use of additives are followed closely. Necessary additives are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Nitrites are used in meat products for product safety: they effectively prevent the growth of bacteria that cause food poisoning. Most Atria meat products contain nitrites to ensure safe use of the products.

Salt is an essential ingredient in all meat and cold cut products. It is used to improve flavour, texture and shelf life, among other qualities.

In many Western countries, people consume unhealthy levels of salt. Atria complies with national recommendations on sodium content and aims to actively develop low-sodium products, without compromising on the taste.

To support safe, healthy and highly nutritious choices, Atria has replaced the salt with iodised salt in 80% of its products, in accordance with the recommendations of the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare.
