Europa Park is the second largest amusement park in Europe, located in the Rust, in southwest Germany. During Christmas season 2019, the park's refurbished Fjord restaurant has been serving Finnish Christmas food.
The park is like Europe in miniature. Arriving in the Scandinavian section, it feels like you are walking in a Norwegian coastal town. The soul of the area is the Fjord restaurant, which was rebuilt after a fire more than a year ago. Naturally, the appetite can be awakened by a water rafting or in a Viking ship.
The park has 5.7 million visitors a year and 60 country-themed restaurants. In addition to the summer, Christmas season is important for the park. Glühwein steams, Christmas program numbers invade the park squares and roasted almonds smell. This year, for the first time, the park also served Finnish Christmas, when Europa Park chose Atria's Christmas ham, Christmas casseroles and cold smoked beef Christmas menu.
"We wanted to offer our new Fjord restaurant customers something very Finnish and ended up with Christmas ham. In addition to be entertaining, we also want to provide our customers with a culinary experience by bringing dishes from different European countries to our menu," says Werner Gänser, Director of Restaurants at Europa Park.
"Our customers are already familiar with meatballs and salmon dishes, but they have been eager to try new dishes as well. They have particularly praised the good taste of Atria ham," says Gänser.
"Central Europe is a very interesting market for us because a reasonable distance also allows us to provide fresh produce to our local customers. We are very pleased that Europa Park is our first customer as they are iron professionals in the restaurant industry and in their own way make Europe famous for visitors to the amusement park, "says Hanna Holtinkoski, Atria Finland's Export Marketing Manager.
